Growing up or living in South Mississippi, you may realize that technology trends and environments are not up to par like the bigger cities around the US. As web developers and designers, we definitely notice that the closest location to attend meetups and events is about an hour and a half away. I’ll be going into what steps we are personally taking to help change this and what you can do to help.

What We Do To Help

We know how it’s like to have the lack of community in the web design and development world here, so we like to assist others where we can. Any developer or designer that contacts us seeking some advice or direction, we are always ready to point them in the right direction. As the community gets a little bigger, we plan to be apart of creating a monthly meetup for developers and designers to hang out, collaborate, and network.

Shameless Plug Alert!

We are planning to start a little summer camp for kids to learn an introduction to computer science and get them familiar with coding (Future Developers). It’s planned for the last 3 weeks of July (2016) and we are currently in need of computer monitors (HDMI compatible) if you know someone that can either donate or lend. This will allow us to help the technology presence in the South and will allow those kids to get a head start in their computer science careers!

What You Can Do!

We have heard of other organizations thinking of starting a similar camp, so if you hear word of assistance needed for a computer science camp, help them out if you can. Whether they are asking for donations, time, or equipment, your assistance will help jump start this movement! Even sharing or tagging someone in a post helps 🙂
